happy fathers day!

 Ode to Daddy
It goes without saying that this post should be fully dedicated to Daddy!! He's only been one for 8 weeks.... but he's a natural! I've pulled a few photos from the past 8 weeks (we take more of her, than of us with her, so the pickings were slim).

The Ferg
Several people have asked how the Ferg is doing. She's doing great. She usually follows us to the nursery when we change dirty diapers. She'll sit and lay on the rug or sit in the doorway until we're done. If Nora cries, she comes and checks on her. It's super cute. As you'll see below, I finished nursing Nora one morning, looked down and they were both asleep, head-to-head with both heads on the pillow.

Fussies and Fits
As I mentioned last week, Nora has started this nightly ritual of the fits. It can come on any time between the hours of 5 and 9 (yeah, she added an hour) and she just cries. I don't do crying very well, like, it gives me crazy anxiety and drives me to drink:) After the weekend of talking with lots of people, we had some suggestions: 1) Colic Calm/Gripe Water 2) Essential Oils 3) change my diet and 4) drink your way through it. As you can see, we tried number 4 first.

We picked up some of the gripe water Saturday night. Luckily, there were no fits Saturday. She tried to get a little fussy Sunday night around 5:15. We gave her a drop of the gripe water... BAM... she didn't fuss again for the evening. So. What's the cause? Farmer and I aren't completely at an agreement on the cause. He's leaning towards colic. I'm leaning toward how much she's eating. It could be a mix of both, but to state my case, here's my angle. I nurse her throughout the day, pump what's left and then give her the remaining in bottles throughout the night. We don't do any formula. Now, the unfortunate thing about nursing is we have no idea how much she's eating. On Saturday we feed her by a bottle all day and were shocked at how much she ate during that 5-9 time range. A baby who would normally have eaten between 6 and 8 ounces had 14!!! Yep, double. She did it again last night. So, what's the strategy today. Whenever she gets cranky throughout the day, it's fine to nurse, but top her off with a bottle. Hopefully, this is the culprit... stay tuned.

Week 7 landmarks
• Still LOTS of smiles
• Decided she's happier in Auburn colors than she is in MTSU colors (wink, wink)

• Staying awake a lot more during the day
• Sleeping for longer periods at night. She can sleep until 3:45a!
• She can almost hold her head up without bobbling

• Grasping... hard. It's hard to offer her something, other than your finger (i.e. a toy), but she's getting there.
• Here eyes are lightening up... and they appear to be BLUE!!! There were few genetic traits from each of us I wanted her to have... the Garrett blue eyes was one! Hopefully, they stay.

• When she's not hungry, sleepy or oddly pissed off, she's amazingly photogenic, in our humble opinion
