It was bound to happen

#flythew - just need to get that out of the way!!

Man, this parenting thing is hard. Again, parents out there, no one warned us of these obscure obstacles we would face. I'll go ahead and get the tough stuff out of the way.

Nightmares - we're having them. I've done my fair share of reading about them, I've talked to her teachers and the folks that run her school, and apparently, we're doing what we should be doing. Imagine waking up at 2am with a screaming two-and-half-year-old saying, "it's going to get me!!!!" Shaking and clinching on with a level 10 death grip. It's the most heart-wrenching thing ever. After several incidents, we know that the sounds coming from cars passing by, scare her, as well as Pete, from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The phrase "it's going to get me," has become common. BUT, at least we know she's scared and can address what's causing her fear. Lordy be. Off late, the sound of Fergie's nails on the hardwood had her curious, the door closing... "who's here, Mommy?" So, there's that.

Now. Add that to the 5am wake-up calls... and her weird crying and tossing and turning at 10:15 every night... We're in the midst of rough nights, folks. Rough nights.

She continues to be a picky eater and her favorite word is, "no!" Yes, with the exclamation point. She is so defiant. However, we've had some success with negotiating - so there's hope.

At school this week, they had a visit from the nearby fire department - fire truck and all. From what we hear, she wasn't interested until they uniformed up. Oh dear. (She's bottom right, in this photo).
The good news - she has officially applied to start PK3 next fall. At the school where she would graduate high school. This can't be real.

We did have a fun weekend. Chick-fil-a, the local hardware store and Home Depot. Saturday afternoon we visited our neighborhood brewery for a fall festival. This was brilliant folks, they had fun things for the kids, while the parents sat around and sampled yummy microbrews. Brilliant.
Dinner with Mom and Dad at the neighborhood seafood and sausage joint, a lot of Cubbies ball and big wins by Mommy's Tigers and Daddy's Blue Raiders. We were offered Titans/Colts tickets on Sunday, so she spent the afternoon with Hank, Mrs. Pam and MissaShag (yes, all one word). She and Hanky had a grand time eating popsicles and hunting worms.
Now, Mommy needs a long, long nap... with the Ferg.
